WSB members make and serve lunch to approximately 15 residents of the Carpenter's Shelter each month.
The Carpenter's Shelter is the largest homeless shelter in Northern Virginia, serving more than 1,000 children, women and men each year.
Carpenter's Shelter coordinates five major programs for the homeless of Alexandria:

 | A residential program: An 80-bed temporary residence that provides shelter, programs and services |
 |
 | A day shelter - David's Place: a warm, safe respite from the streets where the unsheltered homeless can take care of basic human needs daily. |
 |
 | An overnight winter shelter: provides an overnight refuge to unsheltered individuals to prevent exposure to the winter's elements- and perhaps even freezing to death. Carpenter's coordinates this effort for the entire City of Alexandria. |

 | An Aftercare program: provides support and comprehensive case management tailored to the individual or family leaving the shelter. |
 |
 | Transitional Housing: is committed to helping ensure that adequate housing options and |
 |
 | Resources are available to all residents leaving the emergency shelter. |
