Michelle Kwan, a two-time Olympic medalist, has been selected by Coca-Cola to be a torchbearer in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. The soft-drink maker picked 22 "inspiring Americans" to participate in the relay, including two Olympic medalists, 10 teenagers who have spearheaded community efforts and 10 professionals who dedicated themselves to "promoting healthy lifestyles and for empowering civic engagement in communities."
Kwan will carry the flame through Oxford, England, sometime between July 9-11th, as it makes its way to the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Summer Games on July 27th. She previously carried the Olympic torch in 2002 through Newport Beach, California on its way to the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
The London torch relay began Saturday, May 19th, and will continue for 70 days, with 8,000 people carrying the flame through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages.
