Meet Douglas Alexander

One of the most respected British Government Ministers in recent decades, Douglas Alexander is a powerful and persuasive voice on geopolitical affairs, the future of Europe, transatlantic relations, and the rise of populism. 

Mr. Alexander has almost two decades of experience of elected office and Government, serving at the highest level of politics in the UK. Working closely with Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, Alexander was tasked with developing innovative approaches to address some of the world’s most complex and difficult problems. As Secretary of State for Transport, Alexander jointly led the UK’s response to the 2006 Transatlantic Aircraft Terror Plot, working with Police, Intelligence Agencies, the Airlines and the US Department of Homeland Security. Alexander provided strategic direction to the UK Government's International Trade Policy, leading the UK Delegation at WTO Ministerial-level meetings while also serving at the UK Governor of the World Bank. Alexander offers a depth of experience of global affairs to his presentations. Particularly following the Brexit vote in the UK, as a former Minister for Europe, Alexander’s knowledge and insight has benefited academic and corporate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
