A senior political writer for Politico, the highly influential newspaper and website, since its inception in 2007, Jonathan Martin brings a fresh, nonpartisan perspective to politics in the 21st century.  He has covered the last two presidential campaigns from the inside, reporting on the candidates and their strategy with keen insights based on his extensive contacts with the country’s leading Democrats and Republicans.  He was Politico’s senior reporter on the 2012 campaign, winning praise for breaking news, and his ahead-of-the-curve reporting and analysis on Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.  As one the first hires at Politico, he spent two years on the campaign trail writing about the historic 2008 presidential campaign.  After President Obama’s election in 2008, Martin traveled as a White House correspondent across the country and overseas, covering the new Obama Administration and an array of events including the G20 summit in London and a NATO summit in Strasbourg.  He then covered the key contests of the 2010 midterm elections, traveling to over a dozen states and interviewing some of the highest-profile Senate, House and gubernatorial candidates. He began covering politics for National Journal’s political publication, The Hotline, and then reported on party politics and the aftermath of the 2006 midterm elections  for National Review magazine.  Martin is the co-author of the New York Times best-seller, The End of the Line: Romney vs. Obama: The 34 Days That Decided the Election (December, 2012), the fourth and final eBook in Politico’s Playbook 2012 series providing an unprecedented minute-by-minute account of the 2012 race for the presidency. He is also sought-after political analyst and commentator frequently appearing on both television and radio, including CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, MSNBC and NPR.
