Changing the World Through the Power of Food: From Spanish Tapas to Key Lime Pie!

José Andrés came to the world with $50 and a set of cooking knives. Having built some of the most iconic restaurants in America through pure grit, passion and fun, Andrés knows better than most how food can change the world one tapa at a time. He is the owner of ThinkFoodGroup, the innovative company behind his restaurants, hotels, food products, media, educational initiatives and philanthropy. Together with his partner Rob Wilder, Andrés is on a mission to change the world through the power of food. As few in the developed world have access to such food luxuries, ThinkFoodGroup is committed to finding innovative ways to feed many, while fostering future generations of innovators and activists—and educating the world in the process. With a passion for storytelling, Andrés will thrill and delight your audience as he brings the history of a culture to life with his vivid accounts of rich culinary legacy, history and culture of food—from Spanish tapas to key lime pie. He will leave you motivated and empowered to make a difference—and perhaps, with a healthier appetite as well—in this commanding presentation.

Creativity and Innovation for a Better Tomorrow

Described by The Wall Street Journal as “a force of nature, the Energizer Bunny, the Tasmanian devil, and Luke Skywalker,” José Andrés is not your typical “chef” by any stretch of the imagination. As a man with 13 restaurants; numerous prestigious accolades, including the James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef in America, the highest honor in the U.S. restaurant industry; owner of ThinkFoodGroup, a company with 800 employees and an annual revenue of $75 million; a sought-after TV icon; a political activist; and a professor at Harvard, Andrés’s secret to success is evident in his being so passionate about creativity and innovation that he has no problem rolling up his sleeves and doing the heavy lifting himself. In a presentation chock-full of edge-of-your-seat anecdotes, Andrés proves that a culture of innovation and creativity not only leads to personal success, but also a better tomorrow for all.
